During the filming of Jesse James (1939) in Pineville, Missouri, he had a fling with a local girl who got pregnant. He had no idea that she was expecting a child from him. When he eventually found out about it, she had put the child, a boy, up for adoption. Tyrone spent a fortune in the 1940s searching for the child. Without success. The child was never found.
